How to use the knockout bracket generator

From player list to champion in five steps.

  1. Paste your player list

    One name per line; if you just finished Swiss rounds, carry the final standings in as seeds with one tap.

  2. Choose single elimination

    Pick your bracket size — Top 8 / 16 / 32. When the field isn't a power of two (e.g. 12 players in a 16-slot bracket), top seeds get byes automatically.

  3. Start the bracket

  4. Report results

    Tap the winner after each match. Knockout mode refuses draws — a match without a winner can't be submitted.

How do you set up a knockout bracket?
A single-elimination bracket is a binary tree: every player plays one match per round, the winner advances and the loser is eliminated, until the final decides the champion. Paste your player list into GameSet HK's knockout bracket generator and the full bracket generates automatically.
How are Top 8 matchups seeded?
Top 8 is seeded by ranking: 1st vs 8th, 2nd vs 7th, 3rd vs 6th, 4th vs 5th. In the semi-finals, the winner of 1/8 plays the winner of 4/5, and the winner of 2/7 plays the winner of 3/6 — the two semi-final winners meet in the final.
How do I start a knockout after Swiss rounds?

Can a knockout match end in a draw?
No. Knockout mode refuses draws: a match without a winner cannot be submitted, and the system prompts you to resolve it — every match must produce a winner before the bracket can proceed.
How are seed rankings decided?
For a top cut carried over from Swiss, seeds are the final Swiss standings (match points first, then OWP and other tiebreakers). For a standalone knockout, seeding follows your pasted list order, which the organizer can arrange to match their format.
Can 12 players play a 16-player knockout?
Yes. A 16-slot bracket with 12 players grants automatic byes to the top 4 seeds, who advance straight to the quarter-finals, while the other 8 players contest the first round. The system fills the bracket and handles byes for you.
How many rounds until a champion is decided?
The number of rounds equals the base-2 logarithm of the field: Top 8 takes 3 rounds (quarter-finals, semi-finals, final), Top 16 takes 4, Top 32 takes 5, Top 64 takes 6. The field halves every round.
Can spectators follow the bracket live?
Yes. Share the spectator link and the bracket plus every result syncs to spectators' phones in real time — they see who advances, who is eliminated, and each player's road to the final.
Will the champion result be lost if I reload?
No. The champion record is written into the tournament state and persists across reloads and restarts, and syncs to the spectator page. Afterwards you can generate a one-tap IG event poster (Top 8 results board) and placement cards.
